In March 2011, Africore Global Sarl was officially born under the determined leadership of Marie-Claire Ngo Minka. Starting with just 15 forestry employees, the company began as a subcontractor acquiring forest concessions and produced 2,500 m³ of wood per month in its first year — selling exclusively to the local Cameroonian market.
That same pioneering spirit led to its first official forest concession (sale de coupe) in 2012, generating a turnover of 250 million CFA francs.
Today, AFRICORE has grown into one of Cameroon’s leading private forestry groups with 800 employees across its operations: 7 forest concessions in the South Region (5 owned outright, 2 in strategic partnership), the modern industrial sawmill and drying complex in Ebolowa, and headquarters in Douala.
In 2017 alone, AFRICORE produced over 220,000 m³ of logs and achieved a turnover exceeding 16 billion CFA francs.
Below is a detailed walkthrough on how we operate today — from forest to final customer:
1) Exploitation
- Management of 5 own Forest Management Units (UFA) + 2 partnership concessions in South Region
- Total area under management: 352,534 hectares
- Annual harvest on approximately 10,500 hectares (strict rotational system)
- Average monthly log production: 18,000 m³
- 60% of logs processed internally at Ebolowa sawmill
- 40% exported as round logs or supplied to local partner industries
- Historical production record: 220,146 m³ in 2017
- Selective harvesting of only mature trees following FSC-aligned reduced-impact logging
- GPS mapping and inventory of every tree before felling
2) Transport
- Company-owned fleet of 39 heavy-duty logging trucks
- Direct transport from forest sites to Ebolowa sawmill or ports of Douala and Kribi
- In-house technical workshop in Bonapriso (Douala) for full maintenance between rotations
- Real-time GPS tracking of every vehicle
- Centralized logistics coordination by Technical Department
- Average forest-to-plant transit time: under 72 hours
- Dedicated priority access agreements with Douala and Kribi ports
3) Transformation
- Industrial complex in Ebolowa equipped with 3 high-capacity sawing lines (latest installed June 2016)
- Monthly sawn timber production capacity: 5,000 m³
- 80% of sawn production destined for export
- Processing of 42 commercial tropical species
- 400 specialized workers across sawing, grading, drying and finishing
- 6 computer-controlled drying kilns (3 commissioned July 2016)
- Kiln capacity: 1,500 m³ of KD timber per month
- Production of squares, planks, strips, decking, flooring and custom dimensions
- In-house container stuffing station at Ebolowa for faster customs clearance
- Direct transfer to Autonomous Port of Douala
4) Trading
- More than 140 regular international clients across 4 continents
- Approximately 95% of annual turnover generated from exports
